MOTHERHEARD

Someone to listen, as you find yourself in motherhood.

Motherheard: A manifesto

Matresence — the process of becoming a mother — is the biggest shift in body, mind, spirit, and relationship a woman can experience since adolescence.

We too often undervalue and are sadly unreflective of the transitionary psychological, spiritual, and emotional states, changing bodies, and opportunities for multidimensional transformation and insight that pregnancy, birth, and postpartum offer us. Whether you are yearning to be a mother, grieving as a mother, or processing and integrating the complexities and enormities of becoming a mother (which never really ends!), these are some of the most tender, vulnerable, luminous, challenging, strong, wild times of your life. You are embodying and experiencing the non-dual and mystical, the archetypal and divine feminine, the interconnectedness of all things, and the end of yourself as you knew her before, and it is messy, all-consuming, disorienting, clarifying, gritty, and powerful. These are times of slow healing; unfiltered joy and unconditional love; being turned inside out; un-recognition; re-membering, relearning, and re-parenting; dissolution of ego; desperation; timelessness; gratitude, grief, bliss, and guilt; unfinished conversations and tasks; fierce protectiveness; loneliness and connectedness; visceral and intense ebbs and flows of moods and needs; weakness and strength; and shifts in every single relationship you had/have. The nature of motherhood is sacred, profoundly meaningful, and often beyond words, but when women do want to voice these things, they are often unheard or hurried over.

Motherheard sessions with Emilie seek to witness, deepen, and nourish this mystery. To connect women with their intuition, creativity, and holistic ancient and ancestral wisdom as mothers. To encourage women that in matrescence, everything belongs. To honor, transcend-and-include and integrate the deaths and rebirths. To help women reclaim birth rites and birthrights, and adapt, grow, and thrive in pregnancy and parenthood. To empower women’s extraordinary capacities to heal and grow themselves and by extension their families (ancestral and current) and communities — and the world.

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING

“I can’t recommend Emilie highly enough. I struggled with recurring loss and anxiety while trying to get pregnant with my first child and Emilie was an invaluable resource throughout that difficult time. She is incredibly compassionate, wise, and encouraging, and is so helpful in navigating all of the expected and unexpected emotions that emerge while going through fertility issues. Having someone like her by my side throughout my motherhood journey has been such a gift.”

— A.B.

“Emilie was the best thing I did for myself during my pregnancy and postpartum journey! She showed up for me with such incredible wisdom, empathy, and a true understanding of the full scope of motherhood. She is uncommonly witty, personable, and has a gentle and inviting spirit. I have always felt deeply seen and heard by her approach to my birth and motherhood experience. As a mother herself, she brings practical and lived knowledge that simply can't be taught in a textbook. In a world where there are few spaces where we can get real about motherhood- the joy and the hardship- Emilie creates a space between you and her where exploration and healing naturally occur. She would be my first recommendation for any mama-to-be or new mama!”

— J.A.

“Emilie’s empathetic listening ear and skillfully communicated expertise get to the heart of motherhood in a way I didn’t even know I needed. She listened with the learned compassion and understanding of a friend but the confidentiality and highest professionalism that makes you feel safe and seen. Motherheard was a must for my postpartum care and a resource I would recommend to mothers in any part of that journey — joy, grief, vulnerability.”

— F.W.

“…I really saw clearly, and for the first time, why a mother is really important. Not just because she feeds and also loves and cuddles […] a child, but because in an interesting and maybe an eerie and unworldly way, she stands in the gap. She stands between the unknown and the known.”

— Maya Angelou, Mom & Me & Mom
