Frequently asked questions

CAN I BRING MY BABY TO OUR SESSIONS?

Your baby is always welcome, especially in early postpartum and if you’re breastfeeding! I would never want concerns about childcare or separation from your baby to hinder your access to our sessions, either online or in-person. AND, if it aligns with you, I encourage and invite you to help hold our sessions as a private, sacred space and time for YOU. If you want to talk this through together, please don’t hesitate to ask and we can find the balance that works best for both of us.

is this therapy? counseling? coaching?

Although my education, background, and experience is in clinical mental health, I am not currently a licensed psychotherapist and this is not mental health counseling. (If you are experiencing a mental health crisis that requires immediate intervention, please contact a licensed or specialized practitioner and/or your nearest emergency care). I know many women encounter difficulties in finding, accessing, and affording good, aligned, empowering, and consistent support in matrescence and, with Motherheard, I would like to reduce some of those barriers by offering psychodynamically informed, culturally competent, mindful, empathic, creative, collaborative, flexible support in my therapeutic listening, areas of expertise, and in our individualized work/relationship together whether that is via video calls or home visits, one-on-one or in groups.

How does payment work? do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance at this time. For out-of-pocket clients, I keep my hourly rates affordable, with new clients starting at $75 per hour online/video call session or $100 per hour home visit/in-person session. Please see Offerings/Services for more details. Payments are accepted via Venmo, PayPal, or cash before or at start of session (details provided upon booking).

what is typical frequency of sessions?

I usually recommend weekly sessions initially, so that we can establish a strong relational foundation for our work together. Depending on your needs and preferences, life timing, finances, etc., we can adjust the frequency of sessions as needed or you can always book sessions à la carte (e.g., a few throughout pregnancy, several during postpartum, or vice versa; or a few in a specific period of processing a loss or transition). Sessions are typically between 45-60 minutes long.

what is your cancellation policy?

Since the scheduling of a session involves the reservation and respect of time held for you, a minimum of 24 hours notice in non-emergency situations is required/requested for rescheduling or cancellation of a session. Thank you!
